My Operating System
I am a beginner in the OS development field. And I wish to make an OS of my own. There is no name for it yet, as there is no OS. So, my OS will have a name ‘my OS’ till it is something ‘respectable’. Then it’ll be codenamed something.
Current status,
- on hold THE INTEL MICROPROCESSOR (BARRY B BREY and C R SARMA)
- on hold source-code for ACE OS http://www.samueldotj.com/Ace/index.asp
- on hold source-code for DEX OS http://sourceforge.net/projects/dex-os/
- reading THE DESIGN OF THE UNIX OPERATING SYSTEM
- to read UNDERSTANDING THE LINUX KERNEL
- really interesting Atomic OS http://www.geocities.com/eiforall/AtomicOS/
Concentrating on *nix too much eh? Maybe I’ll grab some Windows NT book too.
I am moving the rest of the discussion/information on a wiki. There were quite a few solutions, ScribbleWiki seems to be the best, or rather second best to hosting a wiki. The link to it is myos.scribblewiki.com.
Meanwhile, dil mein hai mere dard-e-disco, dard-e-disco…
This page will be updated with more information when I get time. I will make sure that every OSdever like me at least reaches where I have, without the struggle I will be going through.

Hm.. One small thing i would like to add : You wil be able to successfully build a completely new OS when, you dont start with the idea of just creating one, but when you want to actually overcome the faults of the existing one. And that will be the only reason why people will use your OS, after its completed. No one will just want to shift their complete OS, just because some guy has devolped it right? And f u go in that direction, then you might be actually able to resolve many of your doubts.. like, why only a filesystem basis, and stuff like that..
ya,,, some OA
keep up the nice work.
